KPOP WJSN boogie up dreadful growth

WJSN is making its best performance since debuting with its special album "For the Summer" released two weeks ago. To be precise, the album is definitely enjoying its heyday, but it's hard to say whether the title track Boogie Up is enjoying that much popularity. Space girls are likely to be the most representative among girl groups, as an example of the growing gap between the idol group's record sales and its poor performance on the music charts. That's why fandom is definitely strong, while popularism has yet to build up.

Anyway, it's true that the initial growth of the album is amazing. The album "WJ PLEASE?" with its request released in September last year recorded a start twice as high as the previous album, and then maintained its performance well on the next album "WJ STAY?" and sold 45,000 copies in the week as the album doubled again. By team, if this growth rate is maintained by ranking 8th among girl groups after 2nd generation, the album will be able to surpass the record of I.O.A. and even the record of Red Velvet. In particular, the new album is not a full-length album, but a special album aimed at the summer season.

Of the members of WJSN, Seongso, MiGi, and Goodwill are gaining huge popularity in China. I'm expecting that there will be a lot of Chinese joint purchases due to their influence. But whoever buys it, the more fans buy it, the better. Since there are many visual members, and the concept of a girl who is usually the most popular among male fans since her debut, and she often adds fantasy elements to her strategy of stimulating virtue, I think I know enough why she is attracting fans. However, it seems hard to guess how much fandom growth is in Korea except for Chinese supplies, given the record of music charts that are not up-and-coming regardless of initial growth.

He won three gold medals in the show for the second week in a row, including last week's M Countdown, which is also the first precious and meaningful record he achieved since his debut. Of course, it's worth celebrating, but it's a bit of a question of whether the popularity of the show is increasing in a balanced manner, considering that the initial results have had a big impact here as well. Even if the team that was nominated for ProMys Nine or A.T. is weak, even though NCT 127 won last week would have had a huge impact on their initial performance in the first week of release. However, the record for Boogie Up's album is no better than the previous songs of WJSN, as it was recorded in the top 100 after two days in the Gini category as well as in Melon. No matter how much the number one music program focuses on idol groups, it seems strange that such a crazy song, or girl group song, topped the list.

I'm not saying that WJSN is not qualified for the top spot, but I'm saying that I feel something is wrong with the firepower of fandom, which is seen in the voting status at the beginning and in music programs, on music charts and other indicators. I'm not saying that there's a lot of suspicion of hoarding like some idol groups in the past. I'm just wondering why this gap might happen. But if you have fandom that sells 40,000 copies or more, you can keep it in the top 100 of the music charts for more than a week with the strength of fandom, but... In that respect, I think the music chart may be the most disadvantageous thing for WJSN, which has strong fandom but weak popularity among girl groups. In addition, the songs of singers who have never heard of the music charts before are uploaded without a rumor, and the trend of lining up popular boy bands is still so strong that it is hard to break through the charts.

What I just checked and felt even more strange was the YouTube video number~ It's been two weeks since Boogie Up came out, and the combined number of videos posted on the Starship and Wonder K accounts is about 6 million now. It is not a low figure, but it seems to be far less destructive than the number of hits that will be seen in the beginning. Since I haven't heard about the popularity of space girls outside of China, I think it's because it's a girl group that is better suited to domestic demand. If the popularity of the song is biased toward Korea and China, it is not incomprehensible, but it is also true that the music and YouTube scores are very disappointing compared to the popularity of the original song. If you keep building fandom, there's a good chance that a song will explode properly. So, it's important to gather a lot of fans.

Anyway, for the reasons described above, Boogie Up has won the top prize several times, but it's hard to say that it's a popular summer song. Besides, personally, it just doesn't feel like a popular summer song. As I kept listening to it, it made me adapt and sound good, but when I first heard it, I felt like a song that I made without sincerity. I decided to release a summer album, so I just added a summer vibe to the song. The summer song had its own devices all over the place, but it looked like a common girl group song that emphasized only a cute and pretty atmosphere except for that, and there was not much evidence of its effort. Thinking of being the same agency as Sistar, who once swept the summer, I came to think again that those songs were really well-made masterpieces that made me miss Sistar's Love U or Touch my body so much.

The music video, shot in Okinawa, Japan against the backdrop of the blue sea, is good because it feels cool. It's nothing special, but it's a typical summer song, but it's a special album's title song, "Mubigo," designed to show the space girl in a cool outfit to fans, so we can say that we were faithful to that goal. Sistar has released several summer songs, but unlike Sistar, the WJSN members may be more satisfied with their summer clothes, which are considerably less physically exposed. It's like a successful music video since it has a cool feeling without revealing it and features pretty and cute members.Hah!
