Relations between China and Hong Kong (feat. Chinese Idol)

Watching the 'criminal extradition' protests now taking place in Hong Kong, I simply thought, "Oh Hong Kongers, like the people of our country, stand up and protest and fight for their rights." It's not my job, but I feel like I'm taking a bite at a distance.

Then, I was shocked and interested when I saw a message on SNS saying, "Chinese idols who are mainly active in Korea have released articles supporting China." As Hong Kongers, including not only Chinese but also Taiwanese, support China, I wonder if there are other reasons for their own.

Why are they supporting China?

After China lost its Opium War with Britain during the Qing Dynasty, China was forced to hand over Hong Kong, and Hong Kong became a British colony. Hong Kong, then a British colony for 150 years, will not return to Chinese territory until 1997.

For Britain, which cannot simply return Hong Kong, China promises to keep its colonial-era system of capitalism and democracy intact and to "one-two" Hong Kong for 50 years as a special administrative region.
One-state Yangje means one country, two systems and is applied to Hong Kong, Macau (a former colony of Portugal).

This historical background seems to be why China is emphasizing that while acknowledging the other system, the 'one China' is the only country in the world, and continues to try to absorb Hong Kong and other disputed areas into the mainland.

As we learned, Hong Kong and Macau citizens have Chinese citizenship, but their passports are different from those of China with Hong Kong and Macao passports, and mail with China is also considered international mail and can be inspected by customs.

Perhaps the cultural and emotional differences with China felt by citizens of Hong Kong and Macau are greater than I think. If I have a chance someday, I would like to talk to people in China and Hong Kong. What do you actually have in mind?

I didn't know until now, but I found out not only about the repatriation law, but also that Hong Kong and its citizens have been fighting with China, and that not only Hong Kong but also Macau and Taiwan continue to resist reunification by absorption into mainland China.

At this point, it should come to a conclusion on why Chinese idol groups support China on SNS, but I honestly don't

The K-pop idol, who has global activities and fans, should have supported not only China but also the people of the world watching with concern and interest, should have supported one side, but I think it would be wise not to just express its position.

But idol groups are not supposed to hide their political leanings, and I, a different country person, have recognized only cross-sectional things and have no idea how people in the two countries actually feel or understand them, so it would be hard to relate to them. (More personally, I think it is wrong to support Hong Kong police who violently suppressed them regardless of nationality or political orientation.)
